Do you backup shared hosting accounts?

Pre-sales information
We strongly recommend that you keep your own backups of the files you write or upload to your site and that you take regular backups of any databases you operate. It is your data and your responsibility to keep working/restorable backups of your complete site.

All of our shared hosting accounts are backed up using 3 separate processes.

Process 1
All shared hosting servers are backed-up up using a "real-time" backup process where changes to these servers are updated every few seconds to one of our backup arrays.  We also take a "snapshot" version every hour and retain 6 versions of these snapshots.

Process 2
All shared hosting servers are backed-up every 6 hours using a separate backup process and  a different backup array with 6 versions retained.

Process 3
All shared hosting servers are backed-up every day using a separate backup process and a different backup array with 7 verions retained.

These backup processes are primarly designed to allow us to quickly restore a damaged or broken shared hosting server to a working condition. The multiple backup processes should provide us with enough redundancy that if one of the backup processes doesn't work as expected we can use a different process to recover a relatively recent working backup.

Web site and database backups can be carried out from with the WebSitePanel Control Panel.  Once the backup has been completed you should download the files to a safe location so they can be easily recovered if necessary.

We can recover individual web site files from these systems but our backup processes are not really designed to recover files that someone accidently deleted or lost.  If we need to recover individual files for you you will be charged for the time taken to do that at our standard support rates.  You should expect the file recovery (since our backup system are "whole server") to take at least 30 minutes if not more.

If you ask us to recover any files these requests are given a "low priority" support rating and other support tasks will take precedence over recovering deleted files. You will also have to pay in advance for the estimated time it will take to recover the files you have requested.
