How to import contacts to your Smartermail email account

SmarterMail supports importing contacts from two different types of files: vCards (VCF) and comma-separated text files (CSV). SmarterMail also supports importing from a .zip file containing any combination of these files.

Importing vCard or zipped vCard files
Follow these steps to import vCards to SmarterMail:
  1. Log in to SmarterMail.
  2. Click the Collaborate button on the main toolbar.
  3. Click the Contacts navigation pane.
  4. Expand My Contacts in the left tree view (if it is not expanded).
  5. Click All Contacts.
  6. Click Import/Export in the actions toolbar and select Import Contacts.
  7. Click Browse to find to the file you wish to upload and click OK.
  8. Click Next in the actions toolbar.
  9. If any conflicts occur, you will be asked to resolve them by performing one of the actions below:
    1. Add Contact – This option adds a completely new contact record with the information in the vCard.
    1. Replace – This option replaces the contact in the box with the new one being uploaded. To examine the properties of the close match contacts, hover your mouse over the magnifying glass icon in the list at the bottom of the page.
    1. Skip – This option skips this contact and omits the uploaded contact information.
  10. Once all conflicts are resolved, the process is complete.

Importing CSV or zipped CSV files
Follow these steps to import vCards to SmarterMail:

  1. Log into SmarterMail.
  2. Click the Collaborate button on the main toolbar.
  3. Select the Contacts navigation pane.
  4. Click the + to expand My Contacts (if it is not expanded).
  5. Click All Contacts from the My Contacts tree view.
  6. Click on the Import/Export icon from the actions toolbar and choose Import Contacts.
  7. Click Browse and navigate to the file you wish to upload and click on OK.
  8. Map the contact fields from your CSV to SmarterMail fields by choosing them from the dropdown boxes.
  9. Click on the Next icon in the actions toolbar.
  10. If any conflicts occur, you will be asked to resolve them by performing one of the actions below:
    1. Add Contact – This option adds a completely new contact record with the information in the vCard.

    1. Skip – This option skips over this contact and omits the uploaded contact information.
  11. Once all conflicts are resolved, the process is complete.
