The easiest way to tell whether a leather garment is genuine or not is by looking at the label. Genuine leather garments have a label that says "leather." The word "genuine" may also be included, but it is up to you to make sure this "genuine" product was in fact made of leather.

There are several ways to identify genuine leather from synthetic ones. One of the easiest is by examining the texture and smell of the material. Genuine leather has a distinct aroma that is different from synthetic materials, and it also has unique grain patterns that cannot be replicated in fake leathers.

Another way to tell if a piece of clothing is authentic leather or not is by looking closely at its edges. Real leather will have rough, unfinished edges, while faux-leather often comes with smooth and polished edges since they are created using molds or machinery.

You can also try performing a water test on your garment. Simply place a few drops of water onto the fabric's surface; if it soaks in quickly without leaving any stains, then you likely have real leather on your hands as this material absorbs moisture easily compared to synthetics.

Last but not least, inspecting for brand labels like "genuine" or "real" would help determine whether a product is made from real animal hide or not as these words signify quality assurance standards set only for genuine leathers by manufacturers around the world.
